Cuppa Hot Jones

Inspired by the Homestar Runner cartoon "A Death-Defying Decemberween", in which Homestar Runner offers the "audience" an unidentified festive hot beverage that's white with red "jimmies" on top.

Being a total dork who likes to invent recipes (Four-Cheese Stew, anyone?), I decided to create a drink that would not only recreate the cartoon's graphic, but be both unusual and conceivably cooked up by your typical Midwestern family during Christmastime.

Ingredients:
Sweetened vanilla-flavored almond milk (I used Blue Diamond Almond Breeze)
Cinnamon, nutmeg, and brown sugar (to taste)
Whipped cream
Red "jimmies" (the cylindrical kind of sprinkle)

Heat it up and there you go!

Regular cow's milk can be used to mix with the almond milk, but you'll probably have to add extra sugar to restore the sweet flavor lost in the dilution. Using almond milk entirely is preferred.

The snack to the side is a plate of "Bronco Trolleys"- an after-school snack invented by the Chapman Brothers, the creators of Homestar Runner. They consist of Triscuit crackers, peanut butter, and orange slices.

I brought this to a Christmas party put on by my college oil painting class- and because a lot of people had already eaten and no one had brought any drinks yet, it was a big hit! I must say, it makes a great hot drink for warming up in the winter...
(The Bronco Trolleys were less popular for some reason. I suspect it was because there was pizza.)

Surprisingly, it's also good cold. So try it as a cool refreshing summer drink too! A cuppa cold Jones!

Update: As it turns out, I'd accidentally made a drink very much like horchata.
